Physical Education and Sport are an integral part of student life at
Kellett. A great importance is placed on the value of these areas as
a core element of a balanced education, which is delivered through
both the curriculum and extra curricular activities. Our aim is to
encourage participation, opportunity, sportsmanship and also to
promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
All students follow a broad and balanced programme in school, which
encourages their individual development across a number of areas.
They also learn to play an important part within a team. A wide range
of activities are taught and this allows for more specific skills and
tactics to be developed, as students progress through the school.
The Annual Sports Days and Swimming Galas are an important part of
our school calendar, where the focus is on the maximum participation
of students. The aim is to foster teamwork and collaboration within a
more competitive framework.
We run a very extensive Extra-Curricular Sports Programme which
offers competitive and non-competitive activities for all children.
These range from Ballet and Stretch and Grow for 5 year olds to Kung
Fu and Swimming for 11 year olds. There are currently more than 250
children taking part in over 20 activities that are on offer
throughout the year. These are taught by our own staff as well as
We are very proud of our successes in inter-school competitions and
take part in more than 20 tournaments each year. We run a large
number of teams in the major sports throughout the year. These teams
are drawn from those involved in the Extra-Curricular Programme. This
ensures the opportunity for as many of our students to participate.
A major highlight of our year involves taking part in the Federation
of British Schools in the Asia (FOBISIA) Games which
Kellett recently hosted in Hong Kong. This is a competition in four
disciplines for Preparatory and Under 13’s, over several days, and
is highly regarded for its sporting excellence within Asia. We have
established an excellent reputation at the Games and this has allowed
our more gifted students the opportunity to excel.
As a result of our commitment to PE and Sport, many of our pupils go
on to national honours representing Hong Kong in various sports,
building on the foundations they have gained from school. Our links
with the local sporting clubs and organisations are very strong and
continue to grow, as does our reputation for sport within Hong Kong.
