Congratulations to the class of 2023 who made us proud with their fantastic A-Level results, with a whopping 88% of our graduating cohort securing their spots at their first choice or insurance universities. We are incredibly proud of each of our student’s individual successes, which have been achieved against the backdrop of spending over a third of their Year 12 learning from home due to COVID.

2023 Headlines:

  • 6 students (8%) achieved 3 or more A* grades (excluding EPQ)
  • 22 students (30%) achieved 3 or more A*-A grades (excluding EPQ)
  • 43 students (58%) achieved 3 or more A*-B grades (excluding EPQ)
  • 5% increase in grades A*-C, 2019 to 2023

It is also pleasing to highlight a few particularly outstanding results from our academic departments, reflecting the breadth of excellence across Kellett:

  • 100% A*-A in Art
  • 63% A*-A in Further Mathematics
  • 25% A* in History

The Covid years necessitated the use of a variety of assessment methods, more generous grade boundaries and in some subjects reduced content, in lieu of usual examinations. As such the UK government, via Ofqual, have ‘deflated’ the 2023 examination results to restore pre-pandemic grading using 2019 as their reference. We’re delighted that, despite the impact of Covid, our results are on a par with 2019, and show a significant increase in Grades A*-C. This is a testament to the resilience of our students and dedicated support of our staff. Congratulations to all who played a role in those achievements.

As ever, individual success stories are masked by headline figures. We have many students who have achieved stunning personal results, and many students who have achieved these grades despite facing challenging personal circumstances. At Kellett we celebrate the success of all our students in all areas across the school and their academic achievements are one, very measurable, area of success.
